Events in Seoul

You've tried the usual stuff, now try the unusual. Seoul is host to a variety and weird and wonderful events throughout the year, from age-old traditions held in palaces to street festivals show-casing Korean artistic talent.

Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (July)

In action for 18 years and counting, this festival plays host to the amazing animation talents that are currently producing in Korea, as well as many foreign talents who want to use this unique event to bring their vision to a wider audience. Aside from traditional screenings, there are also parades and street-screening to experience. Keep an eye out for the chilli pepper mascot as well!

Music at the Royal Palaces

Worth a visit for its aesthetic alone, the Changdeokgung Palace also plays host to music lovers every Sunday morning. Here you can take in traditional court music in a location that had previously been reserved exclusively for the Queen herself!

Nanta Show

The Nanta show is a uniquely Korean theatre-style production that blends cooking and comedy in a way that has to be seen to be believed! The comical sketches are carried out through Samulnori, Korean traditional percussion quartet melodies. Rest assured, you've never seen anything quite like it!

Culture Day

Not so much an event as an open invitation to many events, culture day takes place on the last Wednesday of every month and means that many of Seoul's biggest institutions offer free entry, including selected museums, galleries, theatres and ballets.
